Growth and Spectral Properties of Er3+ and Yb3+ Co-Doped Bismuth Silicate Single Crystal

Rare-earth-doped bismuth silicate (Bi4Si3O12, BSO) crystal is a multifunctional material for scintillation, LED, and laser applications. In the present study, Er3+ Yb3+ ions co-doped crystals were grown by modified vertical Bridgman method, their spectral properties investigated first time. Transparent Er/Yb: BSO single up to ? 25 mm × 30 was obtained. The segregation coefficient of measured be 0.96 0.91 ions. Absorption fluorescence spectra had been recorded in range 200–1700 nm. absorption cross section calculated 6.96 10?20 cm2 at 976 nm with full width half maximum (FWHM) 8 nm, emission 0.9771 1543 FWHM 16 decay curve excitation. By linear fitting, lifetime upper 4I13/2 level 8.464 ms room temperature. Compared ion-doped (Er: BSO), has wider larger section. results indicate that potential lasing crystal.
